Online Workshop: Corporeal Mime Online Training
MUSCLES AND MANNERS ~ the versatile actor
Corporeal Mime Online Training.
This 8 week online course is designed to help participants become more versatile actors, able to evoke different situations and atmospheres through movement and posture. Using the sophisticated technique of Corporeal Mime, you will explore how rhythm, muscular texture and inter-corporeal design give rise to different types of physicality, expanding what is possible for the actor.
In this course we will focus on two of the categories of acting defined by the founder of Corporeal Mime, Etienne Decroux: “homme de sport” and “homme de salon”. The former portrays actions related to sports and manual labour. The latter depicts genteel behaviour suited to the drawing room.
The course consists of 8 real-time classes which include technical study to develop your expressive vocabulary, the study of figures from the repertoire of Corporeal Mime, as well as improvisation and composition exercises. You will have access to recordings of each class, so it’s not a problem if you cannot attend every class. You will also receive weekly training videos to work on in your own time.
This course is ideal for actors, dancers, performers and anyone interested in physical theatre or corporeal expression. No prior experience of Corporeal Mime or acting is needed in order to participate.
